Removing Mold Process

If you have a mold contamination in your home, you have probably already found someone to do the remediation. Now you need to learn what the mold remediation process entails.

Kill the Mold
Removing mold contamination will generally follow four simple steps:

  1. Prepare
  2. Suit up
  3. Spray
  4. Wait

To prepare, the remediation professions you hired will likely pull their truck as close to your door as possible, lay plastic sheeting down, and run hoses to your moldy area. If the mold is accessible from the outside, they will pull up to the area and do the same thing. A good company will not skip this step and do their best to help keep your house clean.
As with any other potentially hazardous job, mold removal workers need to suit up in full PPE. But don't be alarmed. This is just the usual procedure for a cleanup. Once ready, the workers will spray the moldy areas with a biocide. Biocide is an EPA approved liquid that kills mold. This works a lot better than bleach. Typically, this should not take a very long time. After it is sprayed, you must wait for the biocide to finish working and kill the mold.

Encapsulate the Spores
The next day the remediation team will return and you will need to give them clear access. At this time, they will spray the affected areas with a type of paint that encapsulates the remaining spores. They will also spray the surrounding areas to ensure that the spores are contained. For instance, if a small area of your attic is affected, they may spray down most of or your entire attic.
If there is mold contamination in your house in Colorado Springs, CO, you must know what the remediation process will entail. During your typical remediation, you will have a team come and spray the mold with biocides to kill it, then encapsulate it with special paint.
